Starting Out
We leave tomorrow morning for this year's try on my cross-counrty ride. We will drive to Oregon across the northern part of the country, a section neither of us has ever seen. We have a yurt booked for the night of May 26 in Ft. Stevens State Park, 10 miles west of Astoria, OR. The next morning I'll get on my bike and ride 70 miles south along the coast to Cape Lookout St. Park where we have an oceanside tent site reserved. After we get set up we'll head to nearby Tillamook to sample the fabulous cheeses and ice cream the dairy co-operative makes. Dee will spend each day driving to an agreed-upon lodging site, be that a campground or motel. She will also be able to stop where she wants each day to sample local life. She have qualified her support: It will last until she gets tired/bored. Bets are that will be some place in western Kansas. At that point I'll hook up my trailer and haul across the rest of the way by myself as she heads back here.
